In the end

what matters most is...

how well did you live

how well did you love

how well did you learn

to let go

Jennifer Maiya Kenny

Hi, my name is Jennifer Maiya Kenny.

Everyone calls me Maiya. Pronounced May-a (like the month with an A on the end)

Maiya is my spirit and my grandmother name.

Over the years I have attended many workshops and completed many courses which have all added an extra dimension to my work and to my own personal journey.

I continue to study as there is so much to learn and understand.

I have had an interesting work life: as a trainee radiographer; swimming teacher; working in a school for children with intellectual disabilities; running a group home for adolescents with physical disabilities. Over the years I have met some wonderful people and learnt some amazing things, about myself, the human condition, and the world at large.

In 1995 I left fulltime employment to pursue a career in alternate therapies. My own personal journey has taken me on an interesting path; sometimes confronting, always challenging and finally liberating. Along the way I have studied and discovered things which I now incorporate into my work. I studied holistic counselling for two years and then completed a further course in psychosomatic and holistic counselling. I am also:

  • a qualified and registered Bowen Technique therapist;
  • a qualified and registered remedial massage therapist;
  • a qualified Advanced ThetaHealing practitioner;
  • a Reiki Master;
  • a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society;
  • a member of The Bowen Association of Australia Inc;
  • a member of The Bowen Academy of Australia;
  • an authorised and registered marriage celebrant.

I am the mother of four amazing adults whom I love and, what’s more, really like as friends. It is an honour and a joy to have them in my life and the addition of the wonderful people they have chosen to share their lives with is an enormous bonus.

My husband and I have eight beautiful grandchildren - 4 boys and 4 girls - who bring much love, light and laughter into our lives.

Healing Steps' logo is an imprint of my grandson’s footprints (my first grandchild) and the words Healing Steps work on many levels, some obvious and some more subtle. My grandson’s birth had such a profound healing on me, in ways I had not even imagined. His birth - followed by those of his siblings and cousins - as well as the passing of some very beautiful people from my life, has helped me to realise what is important and what is not.

We are here for the experiences that this life has to offer, and it is up to us how we choose to react to those experiences. We can either react with joy or bitterness –

the choice is always ours.

I believe that the power to heal ourselves comes from within. Deep inside us we all know what it is that we need, what it is that is best for us.

I see my role as sharing the skills and the knowledge that I have gathered to assist you in your journey. I do this by helping you to restore balance on all levels. I just hold up the lantern so that you are able to see the fork ahead and can then decide which is the best path for you to take.

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting with you soon.

I wish you peace, light and joy along your life journey.

With love and blessings,

Maiya
